Store HiVolt badge

HiVolt badge

$120.00
sold out

With over 1,983 LEDs (ok, 1,984), the HiVolt badge can show scrolly text, mesmerizing effects, and a lil’ guy getting electric shocks over, and over, and over again. It’s not just a bare board either - it’s got a full housing, your choice of acrylic color filter, and a custom lanyard.

It’s using a Pi Pico and MicroPython, so it’s easy to hack on as you wish. It’s got a joystick, an accelerometer and a microphone on-board, and is powered by a rechargeable lithium battery that lasts around 24 hours per charge.

Code - such that it is - is now posted to https://github.com/Ben-s-Badges/hivolt … still being worked on, but it’s really simple to change messages, use accelerometer input, and even add new plugins. Pull requests accepted!

What you get - and yes, it’s assembled:

  • Fully tested badge board with all those LEDs, MCU, joystick, accelerometer, microphone, USB-C (PD compatible)

  • 1100mAh UL approved rechargeable Li-Poly battery

  • Acrylic front panel in color of your choice

  • 3D printed back housing, protecting the battery and electronics from all your other badges

  • Ben’s Badges branded lanyard, which have not arrived yet and so aren’t pictured

To update the software (eg to change the scrolly messages, or to write your own effects) you’ll need a USB-C cable and Thonny or mpremote.

Note: if we have badges left over after DEFCON then we’ll open up shipping options.
